So you might ask –
What is a Goal-Check month?
Apart from the general cheering we do on a daily basis, a Goal-Check Month is where you set goals for yourself and hold yourself accountable to them. You let us know what those goals are, and report during the month on how you think you’re going with them. This helps hold yourself accountable.
The aim here is not to compete with each other – it’s to compete against ourselves (and that pesky inner-critic and procrastination demon that try to defeat us when we least want them to).
An amazing sense of accomplishment will be your reward! Naturally having your own cheer squad is a huge bonus. Not to mention all of the cookies, zombies, and flailing dinosaurs you can imagine.
Though these goal-check months technically have rules – don’t worry – they’re completely doable.
The Rules:
- Make a list of realistic goals for the month – and achieve them.
- Make a Blog Post every week (preferably Monday, but if you don’t post on Mondays just add it to the next day you would normally post
). This is to help us keep tabs on our own progress, and for others to cheer us on if it’s a difficult week. Please link to the post in the #writemotivation hashtag
- Visit your #writemotivation team mates blogs, and participate in the #writemotivation hashtag to cheer people on
- Please fill in the form here:
Once this done you’re ‘registered’
It’d be nice if we all subscribed to each other’s blogs, but I don’t want to make that a rule, just a courtesy.
Sign up and let’s keep #writemotivation going. May is going to be one hell of a butt kicking month. Why, you ask? Because DINO SAYS SO. Hang around the hashtag and you’ll find out why – bwah hah hah
Here’s to a fantastic May 2013!

Any questions, please ask below. Here’s to a fantastic month of goal achieving!
Valerie, I’m in. I’m so excited after the conference!
Oh, dear, I posted the wrong name. I think this is a great idea.
Wrong name? I have it set to approve the first comment someone makes 😀 So I got both messages.
Come join us and cheer each other on 😀
YAY #writemotivation!
*hugs KT* OWFI is not going to be the same without you this year *pouts*.
I promise I’ll be there next year. Just having baby with me while attending workshops and lectures? Not really conducive to paying attention to anything but her. I found this out when I attended the KWA meeting this Saturday…
Aw, I do understand. And she will keep you well occupied and NOT missing us, I am sure ;).
Great blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers? I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely confused .. Any ideas? Thank you!
I’d probably start with WordPress or blogger depending what you’re comfortable with. And as for writing? Just don’t give up 😀 Thanks for stopping by.
I’ve been slacking and April has kicked my butt, so I’m signing up for May to get some stuff DONE! Thanks for hosting this again 🙂
