This is the last #writemotivation Monday… for January π I did get a lot of positive feedback for continuing the hashtag and its motivational oomph! So, that’s what we’re going to do.
February will be an all out cheer each other on month. Kind of like January was. Feel free to blog about your goals and motivations, but please don’t feel obligated.
You’re welcome to post your goals for February here. If I get enough people posting them – I’ll do up a post listing them so you can hold yourself accountable to them and make it easier for others to cheer you on.
In a week or two, I’ll post a new sign up for March’s #writemotivation month along with a list of ‘prizes’ for those who achieve their personal goals and participate in cheering others on to achieve theirs.
Remember – it’s not about beating the other people, it’s about winning over your inner critic and achieving your personal best at what you set out to do.
My Goals for January were:
1.Finish the paper edits of books 2 & 3.
2. Start 2nd pass of Book 1.
3.Keep up with my Google Reader
4. Make at least 2 blog posts per week
Granted, though I kept up with my Google Reader, I think I’d like to comment more. Sometimes I just don’t know what to say, you know?
My personal writing goals for January were:
Paper Edit TDP-2
Outline H
Paper Edit TDP-3
Start next pass on TDP-1
I also worked on the revision of my Query letter – which was for March π
All in all, January was a very productive month for me. Thank you to everyone who cheered me on in #writemotivation even while I was sick.
In February my #writemotivation goals will be as follows:
- Finish TDP-1’s third draft
- Plot H
- Write H
Critique for M- Critique for H
- Β Don’t take on too many crits
I’m mentioning the last one because I have a habit of taking on more than I can chew and well, overwhelming myself.
So, those are my goals so far this year. Make sure to pop over to Rach Writes and keep an eye out for the next Platform Building Campaign.
How has your January been? What are your plans for February?
Regardless of how you think you did? I believe you deserve some chocolate:Β
My January was great! I’m thrilled that I was able to get into the habit of writing 500 words a day regularly. π
For February, I think I want to set a firm word count goal. Maybe something like 20,000 words on the novel! (With the idea that I still want to write at least 500 words a day.) I’m still debating the number. I don’t want to set something so high that I’ll beat myself up if I fail to reach it. Hmm.
You’ve been on a roll and it’s been rather inspirational to watch you log in every night to go at your goal π
Ooo let us know what you want to achieve in February, and we’ll motivate you all the way π
I do not deserve chocolate…simply because I am trying to eat healthier. I will sneak it in anyway though! =P
I did okay with my goals. Honestly, if I hadn’t hit the major opening snag I did with my WIP I would be much further along. So, my only goal for February is to finish this final pass of my WIP and have it available for purchase online the first week of March!
Good job for meeting all your goals!!
Hmmm sugar free chocolate then? The almond one and the milk chocolate covered one are sugar free in that picture! I TRICKED YOU! π
Excellent! We’ll cheer you along all the way to your goals π
I’m always amazed by how quickly, and successfully you manage to work. You’re definitely an inspiration, and I wish I could work just as efficiently. Perhaps one day, with a lot of #writemotivation boot camp, I will. ^.^ Thank you for starting this, and congrats on accomplishing your goals for the month.
Well quickly maybe, it remains to see how successful I am. I may be deluding myself into thinking I’m productive when in fact my work is crap lol π But! I do still reach my goals π
I will cheer you on with yours.
Definitely don’t take on too many crits because then you can get overwhelmed. Good luck with the new goals!
Yeah, I have a really bad habit of saying: Oh I’ll do that for you. No problem, I’ll crit that. And then I look around and I don’t have time for anything BUT the crits I’ve promised.
Good luck on the new goals!
Thank you!
I’ve got to consider what I want my Feb 2012 goals to be. I thought about doing a year-goals list but have decided I like going month by month better. #writemotivation has been helpful with that.
So glad you made a lot of progress with your goals. This was a great idea and I think I’ll keep with it. I need the accountability to myself.
Month by month lets you look over the goals you’ve achieved and modify them accordingly. I love it because I feel it lets me adjust without guild when real life happens to creep in.
Whenever you need that extra boost, just #writemotivation it, and we’ll cheer you on!
Can I join in for the February #writemotivation even if I wasn’t here for January :)? It sounds like a wonderful way to keep up writing energy!
Of course! π It’s not an exclusive or inclusive thing. Everyone who writes can use some cheering on at some time. In March we’ll have a sign up, but that’s only because we have ‘rewards’ for winning the battle against yourself.
Even if you don’t sign up for that, everyone is welcome to give and receive #writemotivation
Just seeing how much you accomplished in January is truly inspirational. Not only do you have so much energy and passion for your own work, but you have plenty to share with the rest of us too. Thank you! Best of luck with your February goals – I know you will kick their butts in no time!
You did soooo great with your goals! I’m doing all right. Falling a bit behind with my WIP, but trying to catch up π
