A little #Writemotivation Celebration

A little #Writemotivation Celebration

It might not be obvious to many that I haven’t blogged for a couple of weeks, but it was obvious to me. I tend to feel guilty when I don’t keep my blog updated – but the last two weeks have been filled with extreme exhaustion, some bad news, emotional roller-coasters and more (and not all because of the pregnancy ). Not to mention the Olympics. Speaking of which, it’s a good thing the Olympics only happens for two and a half weeks every four years, or I’d be screwed. Nothing would ever get done. And this last weekend was great We had a small #writemotivation gathering at my house. Quite a few people in the #writemotivation hashtag live in Kansas or Oklahoma. So it’s a 2.5-3 hour drive from where I am. The gathering had been in...

Food Bribery and Olympic Fever

Food Bribery and Olympic Fever

So, today was a very productive day for me. I wanted to hit a certain milestone on A.I. 3 – and since I’d stumbled across the most delicious lunch on Thursday, I thought – well, if I hit that number, I’ll reward myself by cooking that again. I don’t think I’ve ever written so much in so little time before. Food, good food – is apparently my best motivator. Perhaps it has a lot to do with the baby – but I do like my food. And then there’s the Olympics. See, I adore the Olympics. Always have, and always will. Of course, the fact that I get to watch the Gymnastics also helps. And the swimming… and the eventing. Okay – I just love the Olympics. Even though right now the NBC coverage is not really doing...

Focus on the Positive!

Focus on the Positive!

Sometimes it feels like life throws everything at you at once. And sometimes a lot of it can be bad. Don’t get me wrong – my 2012 has been rather awesome so far – but my health? Not so much. So this is why it’s important not to lose sight of the good things. Let’s focus on the positive. I now have baby friendly anti-biotics to help fight off this second strain of the zombie flu Baby girl will therefore be an amazing zombie fighter because she’ll have super antibodies. Baby girl has also passed her staggered screenings with flying colours and is looking to be healthy – hoping it stays that way. Gymnastics Olympic Trials are this weekend and you can bet your bottom dollar I’m watching them And July is just arround the...

100 Posts and Beyond

100 Posts and Beyond

It’s hard to know what to write for your 100th post. So, I’ve been thinking about it for a couple of days. The Scribble Muse hasn’t been around for a year yet, so I think I’ll do something big to celebrate the 1 year on July 5th. For today however, I’ll reminisce a little. The last year has seen many things change for me. My attitude toward writing is one of the biggest. No one will write my books but me. No one can write my stories the way I can. So – the last twelve months saw me knuckling down to pursue what’s really been a life long goal. If I were to simplify the writing process I’ve developed? Just do it I’ve dived into social media, and sometimes get a little overwhelmed and exhausted by Twitter and...

A for Artistic Gymnastics

A for Artistic Gymnastics

I adore gymnastics, women’s artistic gymnastics in particular. I find the drive and determination necessary to reach the elite level, or even level 10, amazing. It’s drive and determination I constantly try to apply to my own writing. Sadly, I’m not always successful. Sometimes I give in to the lure of the tv, the corgis and sometimes even a good book. Anyway – I digress. Back to gymnastics. The Olympics is this year and I’m a huge Olympics bug. Especially because it means I can watch the gymnastics. I was obsessed with it in 2008 and so disappointed that Shawn Johnson only got the silver all round medal. But she did win gold on my favourite aparatus. Beam. Take a look. Yes, that beam is 4 inches wide. Isn’t that amazing?...

Gymnastics – Discipline & Inspiration

Gymnastics – Discipline & Inspiration

I know I said Wednesday would be my writing process day, but there’s something else I’d like to talk about for now. Inspiration. The World Gymnastics Championships are currently being held in Tokyo, Japan. I adore gymnastics. Actually, it’s the only sport I really follow at all. No, I don’t get American football, I’d prefer Rugby League or Cricket over it any day. At least I get those. Gymnastics amazes me. I’ll be waking up at 4am tomorrow to watch the individual all round final. I got up at 5am on Tuesday to watch the USA win the Team Gold (for women). Today, the mens team took home bronze, and while I’m hella proud of them, the focus for the puropse of this post, is the women’s team. You see, the women’s...
