4th Writer’s Platform-Building Campaign Sign Ups!

It’s time for Rachael Harrie’s 4th Writer’s Platform-Building Campaign. Yes, you read that right. She will be holding two in 2012. The first in February and the second in August.

The first – starts today!

So head on over HERE and sign up for the awesome experience and camaraderie!

Once you’ve signed up for it, make sure to pop over and add your name to the list of participants here. Remember to add yourself to as many or as few genres as you like. YA as a whole, MG as a whole, Adult, Sci-Fi etc etc :D

The key dates are as follows:

Key Dates

  • This Fourth Campaign will be a mini-Campaign, and will run from today until Saturday, March 17, 2012.
  • The List of Campaigners will close on Wednesday, February 15th, so make sure you sign up before then.
  • The First Campaigner Challenge will begin on Monday, February 20th and end on Saturday, February 25th.
  • The Second Campaigner Challenge will begin on Monday, March 5th and end on Saturday, March 10th.

The Campaign will end on March 17th

This time, Rachael has a team of people. Please make sure to visit her helpers and let them know you appreciate them: Michael OffuttOzlem Yikici, and Steph Schmidt.

And I’ll be helping Rachael with your Friendly Friday Noticeboards.

She’s included a form to make the process easier. If you have something you’d like to list on the Friday Noticeboards – please fill in the form here.

Having participated in the third challenge in August 2011, I can confidently say these Campaigns are an amazing experience. I’ve met so many fantastic people and developed friendships I’ll have for years to come.

It’s always nice to know other people understand the voices in our heads ;)

Let’s make this Campaign count! And don’t forget to use #writecampaign hashtag on Twitter!

#writemotivation tweeps! This is one of the best things you can do to motivate yourself. Go for it! Sign up.

I look forward to seeing everyone during the Campaign and getting to know some new faces.

Google Friend Connect (GFC)

One thing to remember is on March 1st, GFC will retire. For those of us (like me) not on the Blogger Network, this means no pretty little sidebar with number counts. While Networked Blogs is still an option, I’ve placed a little Google Reader icon over my GFC list, so I don’t forget come March 1st.

Google Reader shouldn’t (hopefully) be interrupted. Considering how many blogs I follow, I really hope this is true :D

I’d love to know what other ways people are going to deal with this GFC retire-thingi! Please, share your wisdom.

  1. How wonderful! I definitely want to participate in the one later this year but I’m still up in the air about this one. I was considering focusing a bit more on my writing and reading. But I’ve still got time to make up my mind.

Thanks for the heads up :-)

You’re welcome hon. I really enjoyed it last time – soooo here I am again.

  2. YAY! Campaign time! :)

  3. These campaigns for Rachael are always fun.

  4. Just joined the campaign. It’s my first time. Nice to meet you. :)

  5. I think these campaigns are indeed amazing, evidenced by the fact that I am participating for the fourth time! I’m in the YA group with you, so just came over to say hey and follow your blog :-)

    xx Rachel

  6. Found you over on Rach Harrie’s site… new follower here. Thanks for being part of such a great campaign. I’ll be stoked to read your future posts! :D

  7. *waves* I was part of the 3rd Campaign, and I’m really excited to get started with the 4th. Also, thanks for the heads-up about GFC. I totally missed that announcement. I’m not sure if I want to try managing a G+ page, so for the moment I’ll go with the Google Reader button. Still, it kinda sucks. :/

    • K.T. Hanna

Yeah, I was a little bummed, since it’s a good way to see how many subscriptions you have – but I think there are other ways. I’ll be researching it!

  8. Sounds like it’s going to be awesome! :)

  9. I totally signed up. SO excited!

  10. Sounds so fun.

The GFC thing is hard. I don’t like change as much as I pretend to ;)

  11. Just popping in to say hi. We are in the same group for the platform-building campaign.

  12. Man, I’m flip-flopping whether I want to join in with the Platformer campaign again. I was pretty bad at it last October. But, I’ll have to consider it.

    • K.T. Hanna

You should join – if you pick genre specific groups the visitload won’t be too hard to manage :D And THANK YOU for the awards.

  13. Just stopping by to say hi as part of your campaigners challenge YA group. Was part of your group last time too so still following… Didn’t know about the GFC thing so I learned something! Thank you!

    • K.T. Hanna

Ditto :D Still following you too. Also, still trying to get good at leaving comments lol.

      GFC is mean :(

  14. We are in the same group for the platform-building campaign so I thought I would stop by and say hi!

  15. goodness, I hope Google Reader isn’t affected, because I’ve never used friend connect, and I’ll die if all my neatly organized into folder blogs get messed with!

Also, thank YOU, KT, for doing what you are for the campaign! Now I have to go type up my “press release” of sorts for the notice board . . . I have so much stuff going on this month on the blog, lol!

    • K.T. Hanna

I don’t think the Reader itself is affected. I just know the cute little ‘this many people’ like my blog widget will be gone :(

      Aww, you’re welcome :D

  16. Looking forward to seeing you on the campaign trail. Go team fantasy!

    • K.T. Hanna

Yay – fantasy team :D I’m about to start writing a YA fantasy actually lol.

  17. Fellow campaigner here! Hello! Nice to meet you!

  18. Hi! I’m in the YA group with you. I’m just stopping by to say “hi.”

  19. Hi from a new follower! I’m excited to be participating for the first time and wanted to say thanks in advance :)

  20. Jon

Popping over from the campaign, and thanks for helping with the Friday notice boards!

    • K.T. Hanna

Thank you for dropping by :D Yeah, Rach needs to relax a bit more this time around – so helping is going to be fun!

  21. First–thanks for passing on the info about Rachael’s next Platform-Building campaign. I’d managed to miss it, and a mini-campaign sounds perfect for me. I’ll hop over and sign up.

Second, I don’t know what I’ll do about Google Friends Connect! I’m so sad it will be disappearing from non-Blogger blogs :( . If I understand correctly, Google “Circles” and “Hangouts” are supposed to replace GFC, but it’s not clear to me how. I’ll be eager to hear if you learn anything more!

    • K.T. Hanna

Hey hon – You’re very welcome. I love the platform building campaign. Made a lot of great friendships in the last one.

Also with GFC – ultimately people who sub to that are using google reader. If you go to Feedburner, Publicize tab, down to feedcount, you can get a little widget that you customize for your blog. It will list the amount of people subscribed to your feed. Then take the little code and pop it right under your google reader sign up icon.
Takes up far less space, looks neater and lets people know how many people sub to your blog :D

  22. Hi there! Nice to see you’ve signed up again. :) I’m in the same Group 3 with you. Have fun and good luck!

    • K.T. Hanna

Great to see you again :D Go Group Three! But it’s so huge! There was a 30 person limit last time, so I’m a little worried about keeping up haha

  23. Just stopping by–I’m in the science Fiction group on the platform-building campaign.

    • K.T. Hanna

Hi there :D I’m feeling a little overwhelmed by the size of the groups this time around… Thank you for stopping by to say hi :D I really appreciate it!
